WGC NSW June trial - celebrating 50 years of trialling

Postby Jason Ferris » Sun 22 Apr 2007 7:39 pm

The Working Gundog Club of NSW
will conduct Retrieving Trials on 23 & 24 June 2007 in the Marulan area of NSW.

These trials coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first retrieving trials for gundogs held in June 1957 in Victoria. To celebrate this milestone, the Working Gundog Club has invited three Victorian judges, Mr Noel Eltringham, Mr Jim Hargreaves and Mr Trevor Stevens, a stalwart of the local trialling scene in Mr Robert Tawton, and NSW's most recently quailified judge, Mr Paul Hamson, to preside over a weekend of trialling.

Following a successful experiment last year, there will be two novice stakes held on the Saturday. Restricted on Saturday will start at the completion of the first novice. Restricted competitors are asked to assist with the conduct of the morning novice stake.

Here is the schedule:

Judges:

Saturday, 23 June 2007
Novice (am) Robert Tawton (ACT)
Novice (pm) Paul Hamson (NSW)
Restricted Robert Tawton (ACT)
All Age Trevor Stevens (Victoria)

Sunday, 24 June 2007
Novice Jim Hargreaves (Victoria)
Restricted Jim Hargreaves (Victoria)
All Age Noel Eltringham (Victoria)

Novice Stake:
- Official entries (as per Rule 37) are confined to Gundogs that have not won any Stake other than two (2) Novice Stakes ( Beginner’s Tests excluded).
- The Club allows dogs that are no longer eligible to run in Novice to participate as non-competing entries providing that they have not placed in a Restricted or All Age Stake.

Restricted Stake:
- Official entries (as per Rule 38) are confined to Gundogs that have not won three (3) Restricted Stakes or an All Age Stake, or have been placed first or second in a Championship Stake.
- The Club allows dogs that are no longer eligible to run in Restricted to participate as non-competing entries providing they have not placed in an All Age Stake.
- Should a scheduled Restricted Stake receive insufficient entries (less than 4 bona fide exhibits and at least 4 different owners), the stake will become a Sweepstake.

Restricted Sweepstake:
- Confined to Gundogs that have not completed an All Age Stake. (A win in this event does not go towards an RRD title).
All Age Stake:
- Confined to Gundogs that have won a Novice Stake or have placed first, second or third in a Restricted Stake (as per Rule 39).

Awards: All Stakes – Rosette 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place. Plus a Rosette for 4th Place in Novice

An update on the arrangements for this trial.

Camping is available at Kirrikee via Penrose from Friday afternoon, and a fundraising dinner for the State Championship will be held there on the Saturday night.

The trials on Saturday will be held at Brayton, via Marulan. The Sunday events will be held at Kirrikee provided that the judges agree that the water there is adequate. If not they will also be at Brayton. Maps and directions will be posted to those to enter.

If you need to get in touch regarding entries - please email me (click the email button at the bottom of this message) and I will pass messages on to Kate.

Regards, Jason.

Sorry Garrick - I didn't realise that was Kate's title (I haven't updated the dog of the year database since before her win in SA on 10 June). Congratulations!

Cheers, Jason.

Thanks Jason and Colleen. You are correct - Kate got her 3rd Restricted win over the weekend. Now I will have to get serious about the training in order to step up to All Age.
