Unification Retrieving Trial for Gundogs
At Dallarnil
Field & Retrieving Association for Gundogs Inc.
The Unification Retrieving Trial for Gundogs held in co-operation with the Wide Bay Working Gundog Club on the 22nd and 23rd of September 2007. The details of FRAG trial conducted on the 23rd Sept 2007 are as follows.
Novice: - 12 Entries, the Judge was Mr George Price from NSW, but also President of FRAG. His three runs were testing, members attending this stake conveyed to me that they thought that his runs were a little short and his results were:-
1st. Place:- Mr. Malcolm Tyrie FELDHUND PERAZZI (GSP) 134 points
2nd Place:- Ms Margaret Sullivan TOPBRASS WOS MACY (GR) 131 points
3rd Place:- Ms Prue Winkfield YORIFELD TORNADO (GSP) 127 points
Restricted:- 7 Entries, the Judge was Mrs Georgina Gollé from Q’ld. Currently Chair Person of RAFT and Life member since 1999 of FRAG. Her three runs were challenging and had concept, handlers and dogs grew in statue as each run was completed and all three runs were of a high standard that all dogs could complete but each run had a twist in it. All handlers complimented Georgina on a Restricted Trial that was a lot different from the run of the mill trials, handlers went away very happy and can now train with the new concepts in mind. This was conveyed to me during, and at the end of the day. Her results were:-
1st Place:- Prue Winkfield YORIFELD JOY TO THE WORLD (GSP) 142 points
2nd Place:- Robert Boodnikoff BEEREEGAN BRINDABELLA (LAB) 137 points
3rd Place:- Di Lynch LOWTHER HIGHLAND MOLLY (LAB) 133 points
4th Place:- Paul Towning GAINI RUNNING WILD CDX NRD (GR) 124 points
All Age:- 12 Entries, the Judge was Mr Amand Gollé from Q’ld and Life Member of FRAG since 1994 also ex president of FRAG. All 3 runs consisted of triple retrieves. As Mr Gollé is head of the Judging Training Panel it was with admiration and experience that the runs he selected emulated the high standard that as an interstate competitor he faced whilst competing. All runs were gettable and all needed a higher degree of control of their dog by their handler. As most of the handlers are competing in the ACT and VIC State and National Trial later this year, all handlers were given an early wake up call and need to train with a set program. Successful and unsuccessful handlers in the three runs were full of praise about the concept and challenging runs for both handler and dog. Team work was to the fore and this showed in the winning dogs. His results were:-
1st – Mr E. Colasimone MACROPUS DON (GSP) 130 points
2nd – Mrs W. Michalk AVOKAH RANI RRD (LAB) 116 points
3rd – Mr M. Tyrie KADNOOK COLOUR ME BLONDE (LAB) 110 points
4th – Mr R. Boodnikoff RTCH/OCH ETHYLWYN PAJINKA AD ET JDX (LAB) 110 points
Malcolm’s dog tied with R. Boodnikoff and beat him in the run off.
Summary:- At 6am birds were sorted for the three stakes, Mr Amand Gollé was the bird convener for the trial. Vetting commenced at 7 a.m. by Emma Simon with All Age kicking off at 7.45a.m. All Stakes were finished by 2.30 p.m. Trophy table looked magnificent on display, also were the three Perpetual Trophies donated by the RAFT Q’ld Committee. Which was won by highest scoring dogs over the two days.
Novice – Ms M Sullivan, Restricted – Ms P. Winkfield, All Age – Mrs W. Michalk.
Trial secretary/Raffle Convenor, Anne Latimer once again did a splendid job arranging the Trophy table with assistance from Lisa-Maree Price. Raffle was donated by Mrs Helen Cattermole and Mrs Laurelle Draper, thanks. Mrs Jan Dawson supplied the catering with food and drink for Judges and Stewards. Equipment, Guns, Throwers and Shot supplied by Mr Col Latimer and were of the highest order – no breakdown occurred during the trial. Property nominator was Mr E. Colasimone.
I wish to thank members of FRAG for their support and assistance at the Unification Trial. Special thanks must go to the Wide Bay Members who worked tireless on both days, supporting both Clubs. Leanne, Wendy, Margaret, Elio, Dom, John, Paul, Gino and Callum. I also wish to thank my wife Sue for being bird steward for novice both days. Chemical toilet on site towed by Margaret Sullivan.
A Highly successful trial was had by all.
