Many of the E.S. trialers will remember the lovely site for the Flash last year situated on the Avon River halfway between Northam and Toodyay. This year the Linc Sullivan Memorial Cup, and the Flash Memorial were held on this site.

The Linc Sullivan Memorial Cup was held on September 8th, 2007. Judge for the event was Mr Ray Johnson.

Dogs Entered: 14
Started: 12
Finished: 4

Run 1: Walkup,Double wounded game (rabbits) and mark. This run had a walkup with two rabbits darting across in front of dog and handler disappearing over a rise & into long grass, then a short mark over the top of the handler and dog. Pickup was mark, first rabbit drag, then second, long (100m) rabbit drag.
Topscoring dog was RT Ch Glenregal Royal Lord (GRD) with 51 pnts.

Run 2: Double blind (rabbits) and offset mark. Dogs left at a post in full view of fall of mark, whilst handler walked to f.p. 10 m away. Mark was thrown & fired at. Handler then to reload and fire at the two blinds then call dog to heel. Total angle between all pickups was 90'. Pickup order, long blind, short blind, then the mark.

Run 3: Mark, doublefall. Dogs & handlers were well back from the river. Mark was thrown into flowing river & dog sent to retrieve. At the edge of the water, a doublefall was thrown R to L on the opposite bank of the river, landing amongst tall grass and small trees.
Topscoring dog was RT Ch Featherhunt Joshua (LRD) with 52 pnts

Run 4: Mark, blind, mark (wounded bird). Leaving dog in the hide, the handler fired at the blind which was angled across the river downstream at about 120 m. Then with dog at heel, fired at a mark thrown towards them landing at the edge of the river and only a few metres in front of the f.p. Then a 90' turn left and a mark was thrown from an island mid stream to land in the flowing river beyond. This was the first pickup & whilst completing this retrieve the short mark was pulled in. The dog was then sent for the short mark. RJ had stationed birds about 3 metres apart to simulate a wounded duck which would dive then reappear 3 metres further on. Three of these birds dived, until finally a bird was released to float with the current. The final pickup was the blind.
