GSP Vic Trial - game other than pigeons

Postby Diane McCann » Mon 20 Jan 2014 7:25 pm

Hello, due to a shortage of pigeons it is very likely that game other than pigeons will be used at this trial (this weekend). Handlers will be notified before the run if this is going to occur and dogs will all be given the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the game before competing.

At this stage the February trial may be run on Mynah birds! If anyone has contacts for pigeons we would love to hear from them.

See you on the weekend - and please remember to drive SLOWLY past the house

Diane, it may be wise to confer with the ANKC RAFT delegate on this issue.
This type of bird does not come under the definitian of game as per our ANKC rules for the conduct of Retrieving Trials.
If the trial is to go ahead will it be recognised as a properly conducted Retrieving trial? Will Championship points be awarded to the placed dogs?

We must be aware that utilising the Mynah birds that sparrows and black crows may be used in the following trials.

Your call for pidgeons and or game, defined under ANKC Rules must be promoted loud and clear to ALL OF US COMPETITORS to sorce these items.
In our group their must be a few of us that know of a pidgeon fancier that may be able to obtain pidgeons for us.
Hopefully all of the retrieving fraternity will read your call for help in this lack of pidgeons for our trials.
