Tasmanian Gundog Trial Association Results 3rd & 4th May 2014 – Celebrating 30 years of Trialling.
Held just north of Epping Forest in the Midlands on a wonderful property with channels of water everywhere, undulating land and great cover, run in our usual blustery cold conditions for most of the weekend. This trial was sponsored by Castle Country Kennels (Scot and Debra Castle)and commemorative handler ribbons and place getter ribbons were donated by Sue and Ian Axton, and Bill and Andrea Hepburn.

TGTA’s first trial was conducted on March 24 1984 with beginners and novice runs. Our first All Age was conducted on May 25 1992. We now run four trials a year covering all stakes. We had a couple of speeches and a birthday cake which was cut by three of our original members.

All stakes were judged by Gareth Tawton (Vic). Gareth was also kind enough to conduct a training seminar on Sunday aimed at the transition periods from Novice to Restricted and Restricted to All Age. In a really interesting and informative three hours Gareth shared his knowledge and experience and showed us many drills to help our dogs.

Saturday Restricted – 5 started, 2 finished.
1st Josh Wells’ Wilgunndi Naden Brook NRD (‘Sam’ Lab Dog) on 130 points; 2nd Steve Koumandas’ Canawindra Rolling Down Th Road (‘Hunter’ GSP Dog) on 89 points.
Congratulations to Josh this win gains Sam’s RRD.

Saturday All Age – 9 started, 3 finished.
1st Andrea Hepburn’s Sandford Bell Belladonna RRD (‘Bella’ Lab Bitch) on 134 points; 2nd Paul Littlejohn’s Rt Ch Nelemm Time to Return (‘Tip’ Lab dog) on 111 points; 3rd Kelvin Wilkinson-Reed’s Wentlooge Rebel Yell RRD (‘Scoota’ ESS dog) on 101 points.
Congratulations to Andrea, this win gains Bella’s Retrieving Trial Championship.

Sunday Novice (4 runs) – 7 started, 2 finished.
1st Ron Cooper’s Reveirter Clan Nairn (‘Jabba’ Lab Dog) on 182 points; 2nd Steve Koumandas’ Canawindra Rolling Down Th Road (‘Hunter’ GSP Dog) on 170 points.
