ACT STATE CHAMPIONSHIP - OPEN THREAD - 25-26 JUL 2015

Postby Peter Butterfield » Thu 16 Jul 2015 8:37 pm

Calling all ACT RT Championship observers and correspondents…
Yes folks, it’s that time again when gloves come off and serious retrieving begins!

In hope of repeating the popular remote reports received from the field last year, this thread has been opened for anyone willing and able to make progress reports from next weekend’s (25-26 Jul) Championship Trial and keep the rest of us informed.

For those who find Facebook easier, a FB well wishes and progress reports can be left at https://www.facebook.com/retrieving.australia.

All the best to the organisers and to everyone entered in the trial from Retrieving Australia.

Good luck to everyone competing this weekend in the ACT State Retrieving Trial. I hear there is a lot of water in the morass so that should make for some interesting runs. I hope some updates can be posted.

The 47th ACT Champ starts this morning. We have 15 entries two dogs scratched My bitches Eva and Tex have come in season leaving 13 starters which includes 8 RT Champions two national winners and the current state title winners from the 2014 Qld,NSW, ACT and Tas state titles as well as the current national champion. So certainly a quality field.

The judge Wayne Outrim has set 6 runs and has equipment in place for all 6 runs. The plan is 4 runs today and 2 tomorrow.
Weather today's is windy chance of showers . The wind is already picking up and we have scattered cloud cover.
Stay posted for details of the first run.

Wow, that is so unfortunate for all concerned! Hopefully the competitors got to demonstrate the outstanding abilities of their dogs in some shape or form prior to their disappointment. Best regards to all!

Well it's not the first time this has happened and I'm sure it will not be the last.

To the organising committee it would seem its efforts have been in vain.

When something like this happens I do feel for the person Judging the event. I don't believe that judges set runs with the intentions of disqualifying the dogs.

It is a real shame when something like this happens. if the tests fell within the ANKC Rules for the Conduct Of Retrieving Trials for Gundogs then one can only assume that unfortunately the dogs did not perform on the day as they would have normally.

There are no guarantees given in Retrieving Trials to anyone that there will be finishers at the end of the trial.

Never mind Wayne as such is life at times.
