Retriever Training Day


The Working Gundog Club (WGC) is pleased to offer a retrieving training day in the beautiful Hunter Valley of NSW. Training activities will be held in accordance with Covid protocols.

When – Saturday 6th March 2021 8am to mid afternoon
(with RATG to be held Sunday 7th March see entry details here )
Where – Singleton NSW.
What – Training for beginners through to Restricted level dogs and handlers.
Required – Dog, Lead, Dummies, Bowl and Water, Chair, Pen and Notepad.
No catering will be provided please bring your own food & refreshments.

RATG Introduction and training followed by Novice retriever training
• Suitable for beginners through to those currently competing in Novice
1. Rules and terminology
2. Introduction to dummies
3. Using a thrower and stewarding
4. Introduction to Game
5. Gun handling and safety
6. Single marks
7. Walk up marks
8. Double marks
9. Basic obedience
10. Run setting and drills
11. Water and cover

Restricted Concepts and Handling
• Suitable for those dogs and handlers that have placed in a Novice retrieving trial or completed a restricted trial
1. Complex marks and multiple marks
2. Establishing known blinds
3. Casting drills.
4. Whistle sits
5. Lining drills

Cost will be $20 per person payable on the day with one participating dog for members and $25 for non members. Numbers are strictly limited. Camping on site is available.

Directions to the training / camping site and Covid Safety Plan will be emailed prior to the event.

NOVICE / RATG CLASSES FULL
Due to a great response the Novice / RATG classes are now full. There are still a 3 spots left in Restricted training but they are going fast so be quick if you want one.
