Judge’s Report 27/28 April
Saturday and Sunday’s trials were run on fantastic paddocks kindly organised by Russell Thomas.
Saturday 11 dogs ran in the Non-Qualifying Stake judged by Wayne Outtrim assisted by his Steward Steve Bourke. The trial was run on native grasses with large numbers of birds found. The dogs generally performed well with 6 dogs being taken through to the 2nd round (Russell Thomas’ Asti, Mark Pigatto’s Remi, Paul Anderson’s Ice, Peter Attard’s Jedda and Ida and Rob Baranello’s Rizzo.
Three dogs were taken to the water with the final placings being:
1st Place Mark Pigatto’s Remi
2nd Place Peter Attard’s Ida
3rd Place Russell Thomas’ Asti

Sunday 12 dogs ran in the Novice Stake. The trial was run in a huge millet paddock with large numbers of birds being found. David Blacker kindly stewarded for this stake. The field consisted of 10 GSP’s along with Conrad Black’s hi-drive Weimaraner and John Macris’ very handy Hungarian Vizsla. All of the dogs demonstrated strong hunting drive but various transgressions led to only 5 dogs being taken through to the second round (Russell Thomas’ Asti, Steve Bourke’s Magpie, Mark Pigatto’s Remi, Rob Baranello’s Rizzo and Steve Luck’s Evie. Mark’s, and Rob’s dogs were taken to the water where both dogs entered the water with style to retrieve the bird.
Final placings were:
1st Place Rob Baranello’s Avemcanis Rizzo on 191 points
2nd Place Mark Pigatto’s Saetta Emilia on 180 points.
Both dogs worked very well over the three rounds and were worthy of Championship Points.
