Health Alert

Postby Rob & Sue » Sat 23 Jun 2018 12:47 pm

We would like to bring to your attention that Sue has been recently diagnosed with PIGEON FANCIER LUNG DISEASE. This disease is not curable chronic stage is oxygen. The reason as she has been associated with pigeons for the last 25 yrs. Sue has helped me collect and catch pigeons for our retrieving club. Having breathing problems Sue was referred to a respiratory specialist where they confirmed this disease, quite a shock as we never had knowledge of this with game. Apparently only pigeons can carry this disease. Having been detected at an early stage hopefully it is manageable. We are sharing this to our fellow trailers so if you are having any breathing problems please ask for a CT lung scan. Be aware it's a must to wear a mask when dealing with pigeons in coops, boxes or cages.

Both Vicky and I wish Sue the very best for the future.
This is not quite well known within our fraternity and it was a wise move to alert us all on this type of problem.

We wish Sue all the best

So sorry to hear this news Sue, I hope that you can manage it well. I do know that some of our pigeon racing members take precautions, maybe we all should. Take care
