INFORMATION FOR TRIAL
MANAGERS
How to add a Trial Notice,
Schedule, or Results to the RA website.
Option 1 – Post your trial details on the
Forum by following these steps:
This is
the best option if further information or changes may be added at a
later time.
Note: You
must be registered with the site in order to do this. To Register 1)
Read this http://retrieving.org.au/bb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2133
then 2) go to
http://retrieving.org.au/bb/ucp.php?mode=register
Step 1.
For a Retrieving Trial, go
to http://retrieving.org.au/bb/viewforum.php?f=3
then click on the Year for the trial.
For a Field Trial, go to http://retrieving.org.au/bb/viewforum.php?f=8
For a Retrieving Ability Test,
go to http://retrieving.org.au/bb/viewforum.php?f=11
Step 2.
Click on the [NewTopic] button shown at the top and the bottom of the
page. This will open an editor for adding your trial information.
Step 3.
1) In the ‘Subject’ box, type the Name of the club, Type of event, and
date to be held. 2) In the big box type the entry information or other
details for the trial. 3) when you are finished, press the [Preview]
button at the bottom, then check your details, then scroll down to edit
or post the information by pressing the [Submit] button.
When
a new Trial or Results are listed on the Forum this way, we will add it
to the annual Trials Index summary shortly afterwards with a hyper-link
to the post that contains the full
information.
Option 2 – As an
alternative, if your notice is in a Word Document or PDF file follow
these steps.
Step 1. – Send an
email to Admin at retrievingaustralia@gmail.com
requesting the information be posted on behalf on your club, and
attaching a copy of the Word doc or PDF.
Step 2.
We will then place a copy of the document on our server and the list
the event on the appropriate Trial Index (as described above) with a
link to the document which users will then be able to download to
read.
MAPS OPTION
To improve the chances of
competitors and others turning up at the right location, safely and on
time, we can include a Google MAP link in your Forum
Trials Index listing. By adding a MAP link, users
can then select the "Get Directions"
button to produce detailed step by step directions to the
venue from any starting location. It may not always be
appropriate to
release venue information early, but if and when it is, here's
how...
To have a 'MAP' link added to the
Trials Index listings -
A) Simply email the street address for the
trial venue to Admin
at retrievingaustralia@gmail.com
with event and date details and we will happily
insert a 'MAP' link into your listing on the Trials Index page, or
B) If the
location is off-the-beaten-track a little (e.g. well inside a property)
then follow these steps:
1. Open
Google Maps - https://maps.google.com.au.
2. Find
the exact location of your Trial's meeting place on screen, and place
your mouse cursor over it.
3.
Right-click your mouse, then click on the "What's here?"
option in the dialog box that pops up.
4.
Look at the Google Search line/box. You should see a number
like
this -33.708646,149.855564. This is the latitude and longitude
coordinates for that spot.
5. Email
this number to Admin at
retrievingaustralia@gmail.com
with event and date details and we will happily
insert a corresponding 'MAP' link into your listing on the
Forum
Trials Index page.
