For those southerners making the trip to Queensland. There is now a product on the market called Bravecto which treats paralysis ticks for up to 4 months. Single tablet (huge!). Also treat fleas and other ticks. I got mine from the vet - very expensive but heard later it can be bought on line.

Also have a look at NexGard, which covers ticks and fleas for one month. You can buy in a single dose, or 3 or 6 pack. Depends on whether you live in a tick area or not as to what you need. Talk to your vet clinic if not sure.

while on subject of parasites in QLD it would be wise for anyone who is not treating their dogs for heartworm to check with their vets on protection. We do not get paralysis ticks in Bundaberg but do further South.(Brisbane Areas.)
