ANKC Ltd would like to acknowledge the contribution of the late Marie Ewen to the Australian Dog world at State and National level. Marie passed away aged 100 in December 2017. Her association with the CAWA (Dogs West) spanned more than 60 years, during her time as President, between 1977 and 1987; she was the inspiration and driving force behind the acquisition of land for the Associations Offices which became the first independently owned canine facility in Australia. Her passion was Field and Retrieving Trials and she was an accomplished Owner/Handler who won twenty All Aged Stakes and many other placing’s. She started judging in 1965 and officiated in all States of Australia including two National Championships and ten State Championships, for many years she was involved in Retrieving and Field Trial administration at ANKC level, she was inducted into the ANKC Hall of Fame in 2000. The dog world, especially in Western Australia, owes a great debt to Marie for her many years of service to our sport.
