Hi Val,
I believe that boh Kirsty and Prue have given you the correct advice. The 210, 2101/2, 211 and 2111/2 series of whistle maybe appropriate for Spaniel Trials held in England, where the distances involved are not great. In Trials held in Australia, especially Retrieving Trials, the distances we send our dogs, the terrain, running water etc are a challenge for these types of whistles. The other drawback they often exhibit is that if, in the heat of battle, you blow then too hard they change their pitch. Whereas the Roy Gonia Specials, with or without the trumpet do not exhibit this characteristic. Personally I favour the Roy Gonia Mega whistle because the trumpet directs the sound away from the handlers ears and industrial deafness is a problem for some of us older handlers.
